Very nice shot. Sepia works great here. I'd consider editing out that distracting little curlicue in the clouds on the upper right.

OMG IT'S JENNER!!! I MISS JENNER! My friend and I would go to Goat Rock Beach all the time... till I moved to Oklahoma... It's beautiful there.

I spent a week in Cali on business working in Petaluma in 1997. Every moment I could I'd drive along the coast. Just me and the rental car - I didn't even have a camera with me... It was so beautiful but I was so lonely there, alone, far from home and the ones I loved. This picture not only brough that back to me, Bodega Bay and all the little towns along the Coastal Highway, but that lonely aching feeling of being far from home surrounded by stars that touch the sea, sand, and silence.

thanks! I'm glad it had that effect. The coast here is really an endless source of inspiration for photos like this. And the coastal towns seem to have a spirit of their own :)

I will return to North California some day... I fell in love with Bodega Bay and the Russian River area... I swore I'd take *undercover-archangel one day... :)

Personally, the rock looks more like a whale to me...

Lovely choice of colour! Great shot. :D The pose is a bit strange (as you mentioned), but still good. ^_^

I never understand when Favorites outnumber comments......its silly

Hope you don't mind if I comment:
I love the hues/tonality of the browns/greys.....I don't really see this as sepia (I'm also colorblind) but I would have toned down the saturation in the colored part of the sky just a tad, because it also pronounces the noise.
I love the composition however, and the silhouetted figure works well in this shot.
It seems like a very distant and beautiful location, almost not of this world because of how desolate it is....

contemplation is a very appropriate title.

Nice job.

Please take a look at my gallery sometime....thanks.

Please feel free to comment! ;)

Thanks for the comments. I was unsure how far to push the saturation to get the image like I intended it.
