I spent a week in Cali on business working in Petaluma in 1997. Every moment I could I'd drive along the coast. Just me and the rental car - I didn't even have a camera with me... It was so beautiful but I was so lonely there, alone, far from home and the ones I loved. This picture not only brough that back to me, Bodega Bay and all the little towns along the Coastal Highway, but that lonely aching feeling of being far from home surrounded by stars that touch the sea, sand, and silence.
I never understand when Favorites outnumber comments......its silly
Hope you don't mind if I comment:
I love the hues/tonality of the browns/greys.....I don't really see this as sepia (I'm also colorblind) but I would have toned down the saturation in the colored part of the sky just a tad, because it also pronounces the noise.
I love the composition however, and the silhouetted figure works well in this shot.
It seems like a very distant and beautiful location, almost not of this world because of how desolate it is....
contemplation is a very appropriate title.
Please take a look at my gallery sometime....thanks.
